Children with additional needs

Do you have a child with additional needs?

Our volunteers will assist you by befriending your child, taking your child to the park and helping your other children with homework and general play.

Mental Health

Do you have an individual in your family suffering from mental health?

For a parent suffering from mental health, our volunteers step in to relieve the pressures of daily life, allowing them to enjoy an hour of breathing space to recalibrate. For a child, our volunteers provide positive and meaningful opportunities to interact with other young people, helping them towards healthier self-esteem and mental wellbeing.

Pre/post birth complications

Are you suffering from pre/post birth complications?

Our volunteers are able to assist you with looking after your new born baby, playing with your other children, taking them out to the park and helping at supper time. The new born service lasts for 3 months and will be followed by a review to see how you're getting on.

Single parents

Are you a single parent and need an extra hand?

Our volunteers can assist with homework help, tutoring, general playing, and taking your children out to the park. Additionally, we can offer a mentoring service for young teenagers who are struggling.

Extenuating Circumstances

Are you going through a difficult time or experiencing a crisis?

Our volunteers can step in and provide a little bit of respite until your circumstances improve.

Our Family Liason Officers (FLOs)

Every single family who applies for assistance from Hand in Hand receives a visit twice a year from one of our experienced Family Liaison Officers (FLOs).

The visit is an opportunity for our staff to fully understand your needs and how we can best help you. It is also a valuable opportunity for you to be signposted elsewhere to receive support from other organisations, should you need this. Our FLOs know what is available in our community and beyond and can help you tap into further sources of support. They will ensure you are fully aware of all of our rules to ensure we uphold a high standard of safeguarding to protect families and volunteers.

They will be your point of contact with Hand in Hand throughout the time you need help and are available at all times.
