As well as regular volunteering with families, the elderly and more, we offer innovative side projects for our volunteers to take part in. These events have included preparing brunch packages for the elderly, making mishloach manos for care home residents and wrapping Chanukah presents for children who would not otherwise have received a gift.
Throughout the year Hand in Hand hosts educational programmes to provide our volunteers with the chance to learn more about the incredible giving that they are doing. We have weekly chaburahs as well as one-off workshops with educators.
At the end of each month, our volunteer coordinators pick an outstanding volunteer or pair of volunteers from each school whose students volunteer for Hand in Hand. This award is based on commitment, excellence in communication, cooperation and positive feedback from those benefitting from the volunteer’s support. Each winner receives a certificate together with a prize and recognition in the weekly news advertiser.
At the end of each year, we reward our volunteers with separate ‘Thank You’ events for the boys and girls. For example, in 2022 the boys enjoyed an exhilarating trip to an aqua park, and in 2023 the girls enjoyed a fun night out ice skating.
